Breast Intentions of Washington ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Breast Intentions mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

When you create an account and use the App, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name, email address, phone number (optional), and password.
• Profile information: Your preferred volunteer role, availability preferences, notification preferences, and profile photo.
• Event data: Event registrations, volunteer hours, clock-in/clock-out records, and event comments.
• Device information: Push notification tokens for sending you notifications about events.
• Photos: Profile photos and event images that you choose to upload through the App. We access your device's camera and photo library only when you initiate a photo upload.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your volunteer account.
• Allow you to register for events and track volunteer hours.
• Send you notifications about upcoming events, schedule changes, and event reminders.
• Enable event coordinators to manage volunteer registrations and communicate with volunteers.
• Generate volunteer statistics and event reports for organizational purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard cloud services, including Google Firebase (Firestore) and MongoDB. Your password is encrypted using bcrypt hashing and is never stored in plain text. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your information may be visible to:

• Event coordinators and administrators: Who can view volunteer registrations, contact information, and hours for event management purposes.
• Other volunteers: Who can see your name and profile photo in event comments.

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Google Firebase: For data storage and authentication.
• MongoDB: For image storage.
• Expo: For push notifications.
• Resend: For sending email notifications.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: View your profile information and event history within the App.
• Update your data: Edit your profile information at any time through the App.
• Delete your account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data through the App's profile settings. This action cannot be undone.

Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely for the purpose of uploading profile photos and event images. We only access these features when you explicitly choose to upload a photo. No photos are collected automatically or without your action.

Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications for event reminders, schedule updates, and organizational announcements. You can manage your notification preferences within the App or disable notifications through your device settings at any time.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by sending you a notification. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
